Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina answers a question

This one is spreading like a brush fire across the Internets. I am afraid to say that we as a nation are apparently not very smart.

Blu-ray

Just wanted to show my daily support for the better format in this HD video battle. I just survived another weekend of camping and just wanted to quote a line that I read on Weekend Box Office "Sony has now claimed the number one film nine times in 2007, more than any other studio." What does this mean to Blu-ray, well, it means that there will be more #1 movies coming out on Blu-ray than HD-DVD. Granted HD-DVD will have Transformers, Bourne Ultimatum, and Shrek, but Blu-ray will have, Superbad, Spiderman 3, The Simpson's Movie, Live Free or Die Hard, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, 28 Weeks Later, Ratatouilli, Sunshine, Surf's Up to name a few. It is going to be an exciting few months for the format, and I hope that you pick up a Blu-ray player to enjoy these fine titles along with me.

The Office: Jim as Dwight vs Dwight as Jim

Question what bear is best? One of most favorite scenes of The Office.

Helmet Action Cam from ThinkGeek

I wish these were around back in the day when we used to do a lot mountain biking. It still would be cool to have since it is waterproof up to 3 meters and shock proof. It records on a SD card at 640 x 480 VGA resolution at 30 frames per second. It runs off of 2 AA batteries and you can find it at thinkgeek.com for $119.

Rammstein - Te Quiero Puta

I don't know why I can't get enough of this song, it could be the horns, or just the fact that it's a German band singing in Spanish. This version has better audio, but I like this other video more (youtube).

Aneta Florczyk's frying pan

Yikes....

Call out to ban Paramount

I am very disappointed on today's announcement from Paramount to support HD-DVD over Blu-ray. I have read that there was a large amount of money exchanged for this deal, but have not seen anything to really confirm it. The only thing I really know is that Blu-ray is out selling HD-DVD 2 to 1 and that more studios still only support the Blu-ray. Just days ago it seemed that this Christmas season would make or brake HD-DVD, but now it has a little more support with Transformers and Shrek the Third coming out. All I am asking my readers is to avoid buying a HD-DVD player if you are looking to get Transformers in HD, just wait. It may take a little longer, but in time you will be able to buy Transformers on Blu-ray someday when HD-DVD goes down the same path as DivX, SACD, etc.

Golden Gate Aug 2006

Here are a couple of pix that I almost forgot about. The first one is obviously the original and the second one I modified using a simple photo editor program. I'm always looking for cool desktop pix, so thought I could share some of mine. Enjoy.

Chocolate Rain by Chad Vader

I can't stand the original version of this song, but Chad Vader is cool and this version is so much better.

PS3 + 1

Interesting little article about how durable the PS3 is. I really like my PS3 more than the Xbox 360 now, don't know why. The funny thing is that I really liked the Xbox 1.0 better than my PS2, so you can't call me a fan boy. Even though there aren't really a lot of games out for the PS3, the Blu-ray movies have kept me busy. The good people over at ps3vault.com put the PS3 through a whole lot of heat and cold test to see if they could break it. Funny thing the PS3 is working just fine unlike my 360 that died after 364 days after getting it. In Microsoft's defense they have increased everyones 90 day warranty and have made it easier to fix your broken 360, it just disappointing when I have a Nintendo NES and Sega Genesis that work just fine after 20+ years.

iPhone Bill

i-Justine sent out a video of her recent iPhone bill for all of us to enjoy. This is kind of ridiculous if you ask me. My bill for 2 iPhones was not this thick, but still it was 21 double sided pages. I wonder how much money At&t is spending on postage. It's good to know that I used 1kb of data at 1:13pm on July 23, 2007 and 5kb of data at 1:15pm on July 23, 2007(sarcasm). Enjoy the video.

Apple iMac

What has brought you here Persian. I bring you Aluminum(Al) and Glass(SiO2), Al and SiO2, you come here and threaten my people with slavery and ...... Wow, I've watched 300 one too many times lately and this is how Steve Jobs introduced it*. Today Apple Inc., introduced the all new iMac with a brushed aluminum case and . It will only come in a 20" and 24" starting at $1199 with an Intel 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo, 1GB of ram, 250GB HD, 8x Superdrive, an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory and top off at $2299 for the 24" with a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme, 2GB of ram, 500GB HD, 8x double-layer SuperDrive, and an ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory. I am really impressed by look of this new edition and found it funny that they compared it to a Dell system.

On the Mac Mini side, they finally updated that little thing too, finally put in the Intel Core 2 Duo chip. It starts at $599 for a 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB Ram, 80 GB HD.

*"iMac sets new standards for elegance and power. It packs a complete, high-performance computer into its all-in-one design. With its anodized aluminum frame and glass cover, it’s striking to behold. The glossy widescreen display — available in 20- and 24-inch sizes — makes photos and movies come alive with rich color. The use of recyclable glass and aluminum makes iMac friendlier to the environment, too." source

Jake Brown Fall from at least 40 feet at 2007 X Games 13

I am not a huge skate boarder fan, but you have to see this if you haven't already. I originally saw this on the news and I feel his pain every time I see it.

Gphone Rumors

The Google phone rumor has been swimming around the net for sometime. Now there are reports of a prototype. I am not surprised that Google wants a piece of the action. Apple saw the opportunity and jumped in the game of cellular phone business first, it's just a matter of time before anymore of the big tech companies sign up with a phone of their own. Looking at these numbers (as of 2005 there were over 2 Billion phones in use worldwide) it would be foolish not to sell a phone hoping to make some money(2 billion times say $25/month = $$$$$.

Get 300 on Blu-ray(BD), I watched it on DVD last night and my BD version should arrive today, somehow Amazon made it seem like it was going to be delivered yesterday, but now it says today. Amazon has the all of the flavors of the movie on sale, Blu-ray $23.95, DVD $14.99 and a special 2-disc DVD for $21.99.
